I'm building my rig today, and need to decide on graphics card.. It'll mainly be used for gaming and 3d modeling.

Newegg Wishlist of build: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/ [...] r=11851512

Questions is, do I go with the gtx275 or splurge the extra $160 to get a 5870? I figure it being a dx11 card it will future proof me a little bit, and it definitely outperforms almost all other single card solutions.

What do you guys say?

Both are great cards. I guess it comes down to price and performance. Also look into the 5850 when the benchmarks for that come out next week. And don't foget to combo some of your stuff...

Yeah I've got combos for a lot of my hardware already in the cart :]

I've got to order soon to get no interest financing though. I'm really considering the 5870 for its dx11 capabilities and superior performance.

When will the 5850 launch?
