hi friend,

I use the HP compaq d530sff model computer

the manual for the PC i have uploaded to this:

when brought this it has PC2700 Ram with 2X 512MB... IN my possesion i have two PC400 Ram one of 256MB and other 512MB, since PC2700 is slower than PC400 i've removed all PC2700 and plugged in PC400 and the system started to beep at bios. A friend one mien suggested that PC400 could not be suported. So he asked me to remove them and plug the old ones (PC2700) back in. and it started to work again.

In Mnaual i ahve seen two additional RAM slow colored blue apart from the ones that's colored in black. PC2700 are plugged in to black colored Rams slots.. I need to increase my RAM so i could install windwos 7. so im thinking about install the PC400 with PC2700.

What are these blue RAM slots ? will support PC400 RAM? will i be able use these blue slot to plugin PC400s so that i could run PC2700 and PC 400 altogether giving me a total of 1768MB RAM?

What are the chances do i have?

PS: im annoyed with my system becuase ita P4 2.8 system the manual say i could upgrade ram up 3GB but with my rams i cant.

Mixing rams sticks is iffy at best. My old ddr board crashed frequently with 2 different sets of ram. It's not the manufacturer's fault. It's always best to have 4 identical sticks running at the same speed.
