Ram help

i am upgrading ram on a 3 year old dell 3100 and tiger direct sent only one, 1gb stick of ram instead of two. I installed the one and was told by TD that they were sold out of the original but sent another brand. I can upgrade up to 2gb and each new stick is worth 1gb.

The brands are:

1. transcend pc 5400 ddr2 667mz

2.ultra pc2 5300 ddr2 667mz

Is this a good idea or will computer crash or not run efficiently

If its dual channel you may run into problems, but you may not and it might work fine. However, if it is just single channel, will be fine.

yeah, it should work. When RAM timings are slightly different, the board should just match the settings of the lower speed.
