Hello all,

i have CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TW3X4G1600C9DHX in my ASUS 955 Phenom II system, running W7 64 Bit and i want to upgrade to 8 GB of ram.

the same memory is hard to find so what is recommended to work along side the existing XMS3 DDR3 1600 ram?

am i better of selling these two and buying 8 GB of the same? if so, what brand and part number? my MOBO has only 4 memory slots so . . . . 2 x 4GB cards are expensive so ?

thanks,
billy

You can use a diffrent brand but you need to get a set that runs at the same voltage and around the same timings.

Heres your memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145198&Tpk=CORSAIR%20XMS3%20DHX%204GB

If you are outside the states or just cant order online you need to find a set that is 1.5 volts and a 9-9-9-24

If you can find any of these they will work fine with the corsairs you have.

Your best option is to buy an 8GB kit. Mixing memory is NEVER guaranteed. If you buy a second kit of memory and it will not run with your existing kit, you have no recourse other than a return. No one can guarantee stability when mixing memory. In some cases, different kits mixed will not even allow the system to post.

In many cases, mixing memory DOES work but, again, it cannot be guaranteed.

Hello billy,
I'm running into the same problem you run thanks to Corsair decision to discontinue their own products.
I also bought the 4gb kit:
TW3X4G1600C9DHX DDR3-1600 (XMS3-1600*4GB) 4GB Kit (2 x 2GB) 1.80v 9-9-9-24-2T
Single Dimm identification is: CM3X2G1600C9DHX
and I have the same problem you had... can't find any ddr3 memory that will work at 1.8v
where you able to find a pair that worked?
Would you mind sharing what pair you bought or if you bought a whole new 8gb pair?
thanks a lot.
