Which cable should I use?

Hi guys,

So here's the HDD I bought for my new computer: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-082-SA

I've also got a P8P67 Mobo that I'm installling and I received two SATA cables with it: ASAP and SATA 6GB/s. I've looked through the manuals and can't find any information. Which one should I use for the HDD and which one for the optical drive?

There should be no difference in sata cables.

Yes, all sata cables are the same. ESata cables on the other hand are different and won't plug into a standard sata port.

Thanks for your reply. Final question: where do I connect the SATA cables on to the mother board? THere are three types of SATA: Marvell Serial ATA 6.0 Gb/s, P67 Serial ATA 3.0 GB/s and a P67 Serial ATA 3.0 Gb/s (SATA3G_3-6). Thanks.

Check your motherboard manual. Some boards require the boot drive to be on the SATA_0 port, other's don't. Being that your drive is SATA2, you will probably want to use a sata2 port (3Gb/s).
