Drives Disappearing Periodically

The error in the event log is: Event 129 Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort2, was issued.

I am receiving this error regularly. It is important to note that is not my boot drive. I boot from an SSD (Samsung 830). I use a pair of 1TB WD Caviar Blacks set up in Windows as a RAID mirror.

The problem only occurs when I am not actively using the computer. The effect depends on whether or not I use sleep mode (set for 2 hours). If I am not using sleep mode, the partitions will periodically “disappear” from computer management as if the drives are not part of the computer. Rebooting solves the problem. The disks need to resync.

Under sleep mode, I will see the logs during which time the computer is sleeping. Bringing the computer out of sleep seems to restore things to a normal state.

Chkdsk did not reveal any issues with the disks. The disks report as healthy.

Bios reports SSDs are set to AHCI. It does not show the WD’s on this screen, but they do appear elsewhere in the BIOS.

Any Suggestions?

Since I made the original post, I did the following
1. Updated the BIOS to version 3203
2. Installed the Intel Chipset V930102 Windows 9 12-11-12 update
3. Installed the ASmedia SATA Controller Driver V1.3.4
4. Installed ASUS PC Diagnostics V1.2.3
5. I tried installing the Marvel MSU Utility V4.1.0.2013 software from the ASUS site. It installed fine, but I just got a whole bunch more errors so I rolled it back.

Here are how the drives are connected to the motherboard
