Question about sata 3 adapter

Don't know if this is the right place to ask but I have Asrock mb H55 and western digital sata 3 drive so question is it worth buying sata 3 adapter to connect hard drive or continue using it on sata2 ?

You will be limited by the speed of the hard drive, so I think you should just stick with the sata2 port. Wait until you decide to upgrade your mobo, then purchase one that has SATA3 ports.

Hawkeye22 is correct. The drive cannot transfer anywhere near 3 GB / sec, so there is no need to use a faster connection. If you connect SATA III to SATA II, you get a connection with SATA II speed. Because the drive cannot saturate this "pipe," there is no need to get a bigger pipe.

By the way, my opinion is that putting SATA III controllers on drives that can't use the full bandwidth of SATA II is not a marketing gimmick. It's easier to manufacture one kind of controller than two, so why not make them all SATA III? It's perfectly capable of handling the drive, and it will connect happily with SATA II controllers.

Personally I don't think they should be able to market hard drives as SATA3 unless the average transfer rate is above SATA2 specs. Currently, it isn't.
