CPU Running 100% at all time using windows Vista

in task manager check the column that says CPU time and look for the item that has the most resources allocated. In most every day situations when the PC is idling the "Idle Procees" should be 95-98 if it isnt then the process in its place is the likely culprit

Look for any AV programs running....the most common source I find when looking at someone's box is that they have an expired Norton or TrendMicro AV on the machine.....go into MSconfig and turn it off in startup and problemo goes away.
