Windows 7 doesn\'t recognize usb 2.0 to ide cd/dvd/rw drive

have an acer veriton, trying to hook up an external cd/dvd drive. Won't see it. ???

Can you see it in disk management?

Is it formatted?

nope. tried a different usb port. looked in device manager, no flags, noseeum

Right click on my computer
Choose MANAGE
Then find DISK MANAGEMENT
You should see your ext hard drive under the list.
Right click on it, and choose CHANGE DRIVE LETTER
Choose a drive letter that is not in use.
You also might need to format like i stated above!

Did you make sure to plug it in right? Ive seen countless people fry those devices because they didnt read the 3 sentences of directions. Those converter kits usually only have one shot and if you hook it up wrong it will fry that device.
