It says my p55 needs a eup certified psu. I have an x14 greatpower 550w psu. I don't see anywhere that it is eup ready. could these be the reason my pc won't start?

go through that checklist, that will probably solve your failure to start issues. If it doesnt please post your full system specs.

Whether or not your PSU is certified by a group i have never heard of wont make it unable to power your system as long as it has the power and the correct connectors.
