Can I safely overclock with this motherboard?

biostar... :non: bad bad compan, asrock on the other hand CAN have better reliability than asus and better features than evga, but that varries board to board. But no, that board shouldn't burn up like the biostar, but you still might want to look at boards like these:

ASUS M4A785T-M/CSM AM3 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard

hope that helped :D

yes you can overclock on that, but i wouldn't count on it going to 4 GHz, but i have never used it, just looking at the specs.

Dont sue me, but i put my money on a good 3.4-3.7 oc with decent cooling on it. The one asrock board i have had was beautiful and got my x3 720 to 3.5...now i have the msi and a 955 :D

MSI 790FX AM3? I really like that board a lot, I'll probably get the 890X version for my next build. THis ASRock is actually for a client, so if it breaks, that's really really bad lol. I'm running a phenom 9950 on an ASUS GX board. I'll probably get a Phenom II X6 next year ;)

See, i'm debating whether to get an X4 now, because i think 6 cores will be hotter and not clock as high, and well threaded applications are rare. But then again, didn't they also say they would bring architectural enhancements?

my policy with processors is wait for until the new processors get to about the same clock speed, cost goes down, and thermal power isn't extremely important to me. For example, wait until the Phenom II X6 is at 250-300 dollars and around 3.0 GHz. Therefore, thats probably gonna take a year so you are right on the line for upgrading or not. The 955 is so good and so cheap, most of me recommends upgrading. If i confused you more, well

The c3 965 has really caught my attention...but then again on the asus bios page, i noticed the c3 955...so perhaps i'll get that instead XD. But man...that 955 at $165 looks so good...:D. How high you get your C2 955?

i haven't really pushed it yet too much. Just to see its limits i got it to 3.92 GHz on a thermaltake v1, and i probably could've pushed it to 4.2. I normally have it at 3.4-3.5 because honestly this processoor needs no overclocking. I have 2 game and 40 internet pages yes 40 and my ram is at 90%, my cpu is at 20%-30%, in high fps game, doesn't even break a sweat. This processor though is the easiest to overclock processor ever. I highly say get one, especially at 165, i got mine for 245$ right when it came out :pfff: but it was so worth it. :bounce:

i would almost say to start a poll, but do you need any extra performance right now, like a game you cant set on all high. If there is, get the 955, if there isn't wait for the X6, but the 955 is so good!!!!
