How to connect battle.net in diablo ii

I don't know how to connect battle.net.I just install and I clicked on battle.net and I receive "Unable to connect to battle.net". I don't know what to do.

HI, I too had this problem and have never played D2 before ( I know, shameful right?) I have the BATTLECHEST, just purchased, that comes with both D2 + LOD(expansion) Im Running Win 7 x64.

TO GET IT TO WORK:

1: Right click on the desktop icon.
2: Select Properties.
3: Navigate to the COMPATIBILITY tab.
4: Look for CHANGE SETTINGS FOR ALL USERS at the bottom. ( Again for WINDOWS 7, i dont think its much different for vista or XP)
5: Check the box "RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINISTRATOR"

DONE

Clicking on BATTLE.NET should now work and update the program
also if your having trouble with color in the program.....
Navigate to the installed directory and run the file called "D2VidTst" then click on OK when it is done, nothing else
