5850 crossfire power requirements?

Hi, I recently purchased a Sapphire 5850 and I've decided that I'll be purchasing another one next year or whenever the price goes down. Right now I use a 600w, but I fear it won't be sufficient for two 5850s and the rest of the components. I was wondering if this power supply would be enough to the gpus and an i7. (I will be doing some moderate overclocking)

  1. Excellent Choice! The Corsair TX750 is a high quality power supply that can easily power an obverclocked Intel Core i7 system with two Ati Radeon HD 5850 video cards in Crossfire mode.

Here are the official power requirements for the new ATI Radeon HD 5850 and HD 5870 video cards.

    ATI Radeon™ HD5850 System Requirements:

PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75 watt, 6-pin, PCI Express® power connectors.

600 Watt or greater power supply with four 75 watt, 6-pin, PCI Express® power connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode.

    ATI Radeon™ HD5870 System Requirements:

PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard.

500 Watt or greater power supply with two, 75 watt, 6-pin, PCI Express® power connectors.

600 Watt or greater power supply with four, 75 watt, 6-pin, PCI Express® connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode.

The power supply recommendations are for an entire pc system.
  2. Would it also be good for future upgrades?
  3. Yes. The TX750 can power an overclocked Intel Core i7 920 system with two video cards in Crossfire mode. It would not be sufficient for 3 or 4 video cards.
  4. You can get the TX850 from newegg for $140 and it would be able to run any dual card setup you could throw at it.

  6. Same as the ATI 5850 power requirements listed above.
