Building PCs used to be easy, but I've gotten worse at it as time has gone on. My last two have been horrible failures, and I never figured out how to properly fix them. My P4 always overheated in the summer (not even OCing!) and my latest never quite worked right because of compatibility issues with my SATA drive and NVidia chipset (finally moved the HD to the RAID controller).

I would really like to use an i7 860 and an Nvidia card, but everything else is completely up in the air.

I'm thinking:

  2. Why not go for the 920? For VMs, it should handle better because of the Tri Chan memory.

Are you planning on using the Nvidia Quadro? Or did you just want a desktop GPU?

On newegg, you should be able to get the mobo, cpu, and memory in one combo.

You should post a build like that on here. Don't forget though that the OP's budget is $1,000. :)
  4. Why_Me... you kill my dreams of a Quadro/920 build for sub $1k.... haha
