I'm hoping to place my order on Wednesday. Please look over my build, let me know if I'm forgetting anything and/or suggest any last minute changes. I plan to OC the CPU, GPU and RAM moderately (I'll see how far I can push them stably with comfortable voltages and then tone it down a tiny bit from there to be extra safe) and use this primarily for a gaming machine, although it will also be my general use desktop.
By the way - the heatsink I'm looking at is the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283. It lists AM2 compatibility. Are AM2 and AM3 heatsink mounts the same or do I need to find another heatsink to use with this AM3 setup?
I have an OS and a mouse. I need everything else. Prices rounded up, USD.
The 500GB caviar black hasnt been recommended for quite some time, it uses older 250GB platters vs the 640GB blacks 320GB platters and the F3's 500GB platters, denser platter provide better transfer rates. if you go to the charts section you will see the 500GB seagate 12 series drive which uses the same 500GB platters as the F3 performs very well and beats the VRaptor in some cases.
The 790GX chipset is a 790X chipset with integrated graphics, it provides the same 8x/8x connection as the 790X, to get 16x/16x crossfire you have to get a 790FX board.
My understanding is that the 790X chipset is basically gone. 790GX is fine, though. I could care less about Xfire having two full speed PCI-e 2.0 16x connections; benchmarks show little difference from 2 cards running at 8x, anyway. Besides, I'm not even 100% sure this machine will end up with a second GPU.
As for the HDD... Aside from the negligible price difference, anyone got any reviews, benchmarks, personal experience, etc. to differentiate these two drives? I guess I'll switch to the Samsung if not and save 5 bucks but I'd rather pull the trigger on speed, reliability, etc. if there is any way to differentiate these two.

My mistake, I read online that 790GX supported dual 16x. If it's just the integrated 4350 or whatever it is, I could care less - there's no way I'll ever be using a GPU outdated enough to enable hybrid Xfire and while reducing power consumption during non-peak use is all well and good, it's not a big enough concern to hunt down discontinued or poorly stocked parts.
I'll switch to the Samsung drive, then. Thanks for the info. Anything else you would think about changing?
Edit: Newegg reviews for the Samsung F3 mention it lacks a SATA cable. I assume this means I will need one? Can someone find an appropriate cable and link me to it? There are so many subtly different cables and connectors and I have a remarkable tendency to pick the wrong ones

You don't need SATA cables. Like was mentioned above, your motherboard will come with the SATA cables. The picture of bundled accessories for your motherboard shows 4 SATA cables.
