There should be a notebook forum on Tom's Hardware. It should be listed prominently since so many are moving to Notebooks.

Do you agree?

There IS a notebooks forum. It IS listed prominently. It's called <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com//modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=28" target="_new">Notebooks, Mobile Computing</A>

Try that, or select it from the menu, towards the bottom right of this screen, then hit jump, as I explained in your other thread. It's in the "Consumer Electronics" category, between "DVD Players, Set-top boxes" and "Other Consumer Electronics".

If you can find the Other and Polls forums, you can find the notebook section. Come on, I know you can.

I found it.

However it is under "Consumer Electronics?"-whats with that? It is not prominently displayed and its location is counter intuitive would you look for notebooks under Cunsumer electronics? I think it could be done better. While I am being picky, why could I not locate it when I did a search on the "Search Boards" for notebooks - "no matches" came back?

When you do a Search Boards, you search for THREADS, and in that case, you have to first choose in what forum are you searching in, further proving you did not even understand how the Search feature works.

The Boards Overview shows we have tons of forums, ergo you simply can't have all of them conveniently placed. Otherwise we'd ask for the OTHER forum to be way up there.
If you're too lazy to search the overview, it's your own fault. I like the digicam forum, do I have to complain because it's all the way down there? (besides I bookmarked it)

Well, he posted in two or more forums, asking the same thing we when we pointed it out clearly. To whine about something that's been like this forever, and even show ignorance towards usage of the Search feature (which clearly reads which forum you search in) when it can't possibly have a function to search for Forums (hence what the Boards Overview), well, I don't see even a newbie having trouble in reading that.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much. (hmm, something the Dutch would say towards us)

Oh come on, admit it...you didn't even know about the Other right off the bat when you were a newbie, did you? I know I didn't. His second thread, here in polls, was pretty soon after Scam gave his suggestion.

I think we would be the ones that tell the Dutch that <i>they</i> expect too much. You know, to have a flawless government, flawless society, and to know everything there is to know about everything. Supposedly.

That's true, I think I was refered to it by a link. May have checked then some more posts, then finally decided to join, at the cost of knowing the amount of unread threads each day meant extra hours. I was sucked in!
Still, I don't know what that has to do with his case. Really, all he had to do was use the Boards Overview, or when you log on, you go to your PM Inbox directly and can choose which forum to jump to. I wonder HOW he didn't read that!

Maybe he just joined and that was one of his first posts. Maybe he didn't scan the list enough. Although my eyes passed over the whole list, I didn't <i>really</i> notice half the crap on here for a month or so.

I was just using the comparison of most folks not knowing about Other, to imply that he could have easily not known about Notebooks, Mobile Computing section.

All I'm saying is, I strongly urged him to read more carefully, but you kinda got on his case.

You're not just bitter about that last summer job message, are ya? :wink:

We already have a notebook forum. The original poster didn;t make this a poll, so much as a speak up thread.
