this is the other question i had, i was wondering i have a 9800gtx, but was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to a 4870 or if i would just be burning money? im working on a limited budget but i have this new game i like alot and my frame rates kinda suck, so iv been debating it. as far as i know for the price range of a 4870, that would prolly be the most bang for my buck working with only 150 dollors.

the rest of my pc is pretty decent.

core i7 920
gigaqbyte Ex-58-DS4
G skill 6GB ram 2x3 ddr3

if you can save more money try to get 5850. at the very least it will save you from upgrading later if you want to play dx 11 games.

You will be wasting your money if you buy a 4870.... Save up and get a 5850 if you want to see any performance gains at all.....

What game are you playing?

ok thanks. i will prolly wait a while then. also to Ovrclkr, im playing champions online iv also overclocked the 9800gtx as much as my technical knowledge would allow. seems the best i get is 720 core clock 1100 memory, and 1795 shader clock. any more then that and i seem to randomly get lag fairly often.

You can also add another 9800GTX if you want a bump in performance =)

Worst FKin Idea EVER !! :pt1cable:

Either wait for the HD5850 series to come down a bit or else get and HD4890, but adding a second GF9800GTX is plain stupid, especially heading forward.

But to the OP, did you bother checking the Champions forum first?

You're not the first person I've heard this from and low and behold there's a mega thread at the online site about the lag;

http://forums.champions-online.com [...] hp?t=35438

and some advice about rolling back the nV drivers to imrpove performance where alot of lag was introduced with the latest driver update;

So don't buy a new card, and definitely don't F'in buy another GF9, see if rolling back the drivers helps and then maybe check the thread for updates.

why would it be a bad idea? Unless he can sell that GPU, I think it is a great idea... Don't know why everyone suggests to buy a next gen GPU when in fact an SLI setup should suffice just fine. I had dual 250's in SLI and they were enough for my needs.... My point is that if he cannot sell the GTX then he should be fine with dual GTX's. If not then he should upgrade to a 5XXX series.... Am I wrong here?
