Give this a try:

You need the USB Composite Device drivers . Go to the Control Panel, select 'Add Hardware', click 'Next' until you see an option similar (I'm not using WinXP) to 'Install the hardware that I manually select from a list', click 'Next'. , select 'Portable Devices', click 'Next'. From the left menu, select 'Microsoft', From the right menu, select 'WPD Composite Device', click 'Next'. Plug in your
device.
