Does anyone else move thier stock heatsink around to spread the thermal paste a bit before anchoring it? I did this with a stock 1155 intel and am wondering if I should have just done straight down and anchored. Thanks.
No I spread the paste with my finger (covered in plastic wrap) before I put the heatsink down. But most heatsinks already have the thermal paste on the heatsink, so you don't have to spread or move around anything.

^true. Most heatsinks come with paste on already (just anchor it, no need to spread) But if it didn't already have paste on it, I usually use an old credit card/gift card to smooth it out.

It's not unheard of too wiggle the cooler a little without breaking contact with the cpu.
I've done it myself before to no ill effect.

I've done this also. I'd like to add that loosing contact using this method, or any for that matter, can create air pockets. Air is not a good thermal conductor.
