APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Next few weeks BUDGET RANGE: 500-800 after rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, downloading, everyday internet/messaging

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: I have a keyboard, mouse, 2 monitors Samsung SyncMaster 204BW and a SyncMaster 710N, also have speakers. I also bought windows 7 64bit from my college so that is waiting.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg for a majority, (I have some gift cards on the way)
PARTS PREFERENCES: by brand or type (e.g.: I would like to use an AMD CPU & Biostar mobo with a 24" LCD and full tower case)

OVERCLOCKING: Yes, Crossfire is an option if best price per performance and if that will suit dual monitors the best

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680x1050 for the 204BW, 1280x1024 for the 710N

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I love using two monitors. Eventually I would like to upgrade to a nice 22/24 (Maybe even this build if my wife lets me :) and then use the 204BW as the second monitor. For now I'm planning on sticking with these two monitors. I love to multitask. I love to be able to have Trillian Astra, winamp, multiple websites, utorrent, and other things running at the same time.

Right now I'm running a Athlon 64 3000+ with 2 gigs of ram. So even a cheap 400-500 dollar build would blow this thing away. My debate is if I should do it on the cheap for now, and then do another cheap upgrade a year or two down the road, or spend the 800 and get something that will last a bit longer. Right now I'm leaning towards getting a bit better of a machine that will last me longer. Our first child is on the way in March, so my guess is that whatever I get now will have to last me a long time.

Couple more silly things. I want a lot of memory, 8 gigs sounds really nice. Am I crazy, or would that be useful under win 7. Also I have toyed with the idea of using a SSD drive for the operating system. My current pc has plenty of hard drive space, and I have a 1TB external for storing downloads/mp3s. So a small SSD with a cheap 500 gig hard drive would be nice. I have no experience with ssd drives, would it make a huge difference if it was only the operating system? What are your thoughts? Should i just forget about it on a build for this much money? Maybe continue the waiting game on it since prices will keep falling.

Alright that is enough rambling. All help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

An SSD and 8 GB of memory would take you out of your budget.
Congratulations on the new child.
