Hello and thank you in advance for the help. I am new to this, so forgive me if I do not do this as well as I should. My current problem is that I am building a New computer and am installing a new EVGA card as per mentioned in the thread but have a problem. The computer quits powering up the CPU fan and PSU fan as soon as I try to attach the pci-e 6pin power cords to the video card.
The computer will power up with the mobo, cpu/heatsink/fan, psu/fan and ram. I am following the next item to install as the video card and already have it installed in the PCI-E adapter slot in the mobo. I then checked and the fans and such still power up, BUT as soon as I try to power up the video card, there is no longer any working fans (I am strictly guessing that this suggests the computer was going through the POST but failed once the video card was powered?).
I have a modular PSU with a 1-6pin PCI-E cord that attaches to my PSU. Also, I bought a 8to6-pin PCI-E cord converter for a cord that comes directly out of my PSU. So, this gives me the (2) PCI-E cords. Does this make them on separate rails where they will work properly? I only know enough to know that could be an issue...I could try and hook-up with the included (2) 2-headed, 4-pin Molex converters, but I really don't know how that would help me solve this headache either...
