BUDGET RANGE: ~$1000 after rebates, if spending a $100-$200 is going to make a noticible difference then I am for it.
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming is the main purpose, I also do a lot of graphic/web design using the Adobe Creative Suite but that shouldn't limit the system in any way
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse. I just need the tower.
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Prefer Newegg but open to whoever can give me the best deal in the US.
PARTS PREFERENCES: Open to suggestions, a lot has changed since I built my last rig…
OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe - Was thinking I might be better off getting 1 good card now and then adding a second down the road when I need it.
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Computer will output to my TV most of the time, 52" Samsung pushing 1080P @ 120hz. Not opposed to going down to 720P as games become more demanding in the future. Sound will output to my surround sound system.
I was thinking going with an i7 board with a 920 processor but then read a forum post saying that may not be the best way to go and I can get equal performance using cheaper parts meaning I can spend more money elsewhere. However, I would like to future-proof the machine as much as possible.
I had been planning on building a new rig for Starcraft II and Diablo 3 right before Starcraft's release but my laptop bit the bullet and has forced me to build now rather than wait. I love RTS games but need the machine to be able to push the latest and greatest FPSs as well.
Any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.
