P5nd memory controller problem

I have a P5N-D running for 2 years without too much problem. Now it will not accept more than one stick of ram without freezing. If I try to add one stick I must clear the cmos by removing the battery to get it back working after I remove the second stick. I bought new ram and it makes no difference. I am very slow with two gigs and need the additional memory. Will get a new motherboard any suggestions?

Have you checked if there's a BIOS update available for your motherboard? You're motherboard might also be giving up, so maybe a new mobo will solve your problem indeed. What are your current specs?
