i just heard theres a new

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor
Q9650 / 12MB L2 Cache, 3.0GHz, 1333MHz

is that the fastest avaiable out for a laptop?

if soo whats faster

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor
Q9650 / 12MB L2 Cache, 3.0GHz, 1333MHz

or

intel Core i7-975 Extreme Quad (Nehalem)| 3.33GHz|8MB L3 Cache 6.4GT/sec QPI|130W LGA 1366

The i7 is the fastest, but I would recommend the first one (the QX9300) out of that bunch for a laptop. The other CPUs in that list are desktop CPUs, and even though they can be made to fit in a laptop if absolutely necessary, they will kill the battery life, run hot, and are in general a poor choice for any mobile computer.

I'd look for a laptop with a mobile i7 if I could though.

Even if they aren't important, I'd tend to lean towards a mobile processor or a desktop. It's pretty rare that someone would have a situation that (IMHO) would require a laptop with a desktop CPU (especially an extreme edition).

Video editting on a laptop? I'd make sure it has an SSD. Laptop drives aren't known for being speedy. Doesn't make a lot of sense to get the 9650/i7 if your going to pair it up with a large but slow 5400RPM drive. Or a smaller capacity 7200RPM drive.

it has a 2.5" SATA 500GB(7200rpm) HDD

isnt that fast?

do you know the fastest desktop computer in the world is??

that can beat this laptop

also would better video card. make video editing alot faster when converting videos?

this is what i got

Windows 7
17' WUXGA Screen
Core i7 Extreme 975 (3.33 GHZ)
NV Geforce GO GTX 280 M w / 1GB
12 GB DDR 1333 (3 Dimms) Ram
2.5' Sata 500 GB (7200 rpm) Harddrive

for 4,000

but i notice this desktop here

http://www.xicomputer.com/products/Configure_n.asp?model=mtowersp4home&configid=

has

has a i7 959 overclocked at 3.70 Ghz cpu

2x nVidia® EVGA/XFX GeForce® GTX 295 1792MB GDDR3 PCIe SLI-Ready Dual Head 4xDVI-I Dual Link HDTV PhysX Of video ram

12228MB Patriot™ Viper 9-9-9-24 DDR3 @1333MHz 6x2048 Triple Rank Interleave w/Heat Spread

would i notice a big different in video converting and processiong with this?

or not really notice anthing major

There are lots of faster desktops than that laptop but since you do video converting and processing, that laptop is sufficient since it has the fastest i7 CPU in it.
The desktop that you posted leaves Clevo D900F in dust in gaming, but for your tasks its not a lot faster since you mostly do CPU-limited tasks and an i7 975 can handle it without a problem
