Flash Video: Youtube, Vimeo turns memory clock back to stock settings

I'm running a Gigabyte 6870 (Default Core: 915MHz, Mem: 1050Mhz) @ (Core: 990MHz, Mem: 1160MHz).
Whenever I'm running flash videos (i.e youtube, or vimeo) the memory clock will automatically drop back to the default clock @ 1050MHz, and go back up to 1160MHz when I stop the video.

Why is this?

Same thing happens with my older HD 5770 card.
