How to fix a external hard disk drive

Hello, i have an external hard disk drive, it was working before but now if i'll plug it, the light indicator shows but it doesn't read at all, it's just stay like that, it doesn't boot anymore, do you have any idea on how to fix my problem? please i need an answer.. thank you in advance.. Could you provide more info (model, interface type, etc.)? Since no hard disk can boot, what do you mean by "it doesn't boot anymore"?
