I need some advice/approval for CPU upgrade. Currently running a Dell Dimension 9150 with a terrible Pentium D processor. I've read terrible things about it and I want to upgrade to this Core 2 Duo for gaming http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115059 . I checked my motherboard out http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/chipsets/945g/945g-overview.htm and it says that it supports Core 2 Duo. I made sure the socket (LGA 775) was correct and that the FSB was compatible with my motherboard. I obtained alll my info about my system using Everest. Are there any other variables I need to check out to ensure compatibility? I think that everything is compatible, I just need a second opinion b/c its a decent amount of cash and I can't return it lol. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Does the Dell 9150 have a BIOs upgrade to let you upgrade your motherboard?

I can remember back in the day my 4700 motherboard never got a BIOs update so I was stuck with P4.

Hopefully.

Check at Dell main site. If you don't get any luck there. You may be able to Google the question.

Such as:

Is there a BIOs update for 9150?

But I would check drivers and Bio updates at Dell first. Good luck.
