Trouble getting new setup to start up

hi i just put in a new motherboard and it started up great. installed windows 7 then put in another hard drive into my case. now when i switch on my pc all i get is a flickering picture on the screen. any idea why? could it be the static when i put in the hdd?

How long was it running 'great'? Try re-seating the video card; I'm sure you've already checked that your monitor cable is properly seated... Also, have you tried just disconnecting the 'new', added drive?

yeah i unplugged the drive, i'm gonna move a few cables around then reseat my components. any advice?

That's about my advice - reseat your vidcard, cables (don't forget the six or eight pin power to the card...) - see what happens [:bilbat:1]

Yeah, sounds like you have bumped a wire or connection somewhere and knocked something loose.
