Hi: This is a little embarasing as I normally take good care of my
computers, but someone (I think my grand-daughter), spilled something dark
blue got on the screen and before I noticed it, it ran down into the bezel
in the corner of the screen. I was able to absorb most of it with a tissue,
but it has left a dark streak right in the corner. I believe this could just
be wiped away if I could remove the bezel. Can anyone point me to directions
of how to dismantel this screen?

The computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 Notebook.

I would greatly appreciate this ... Thanks in Advance.

I don't know specifically about the Toshiba, but most laptops are
assembled in the same way. There should be small screws that secure
the bezel. They will probably be hidden behind some small rubber
plugs, or maybe the cover "bumpers". Remove the screws. The bezel
snaps into the cover, so just carefully pull, pry, etc. until you get
it started. Then proceed around the whole bezel, but be careful, the
bezel may be a little brittle and can be easily cracked.

Regards, hawk

Hmmmm, seems like this group doesn't accept attachments. I'll post it
in alt.binaries.e-book.technical for you

I don't have a manual for that model, but LCD bezels are normally held
on by 2 or 4 screws and various plastic "snaps".

The screws are in the corners, if there are only 2 screws they are
usually in the lower corners. The screws ae normally concealed. There
are usually either adhesive vinyl inserts (sometimes with the model
number logo, sometimes plain) covering the screws, or they may be
covered by rubber "bumpers" or "feet" that are removeble. A service
shop would replace these rather than reusing them, but you will have to
reuse them, so for cosmetic reasons it's important to remove them
carefully. I usually use either a straight-pin or an X-acto knife with
a #1 blade, and work very carefully.

Once you have the screws exposed and removed, the bezel is still held by
"snaps". I can't tell you how to release these, it's a trick that you
learn, but I would warn you that it's not difficult to break things if
you are too ham-fisted. On a very few models, there are also "hinge
covers" that are part of the bezel attachment and that need to be
removed, but this is not common on Toshiba models (it is very common on
many models of IBM Thinkpad).

Usually, and especially if there are only 2 screws in the bottom
corners, you start at the bottom and work your way around and up.

Good luck.
