Computer won\'t recognize hard drive.Trying to install second hard drive

Please need help.I have a Dell optiplex 755 and want to install a new 2 TB Western hard drive but the computer does not show the hard drive.

Does that PC use SATA or IDE hard drives?
Did you enable the drive in the BIOS?

When you say it doesn't show, would that be in My computer or Computer Management?

My new 1TB SATA needed to be initialized in Computer Management. No big deal, when going in there it told me it needed to be initialized and all I had to do was click on it.

If it shows in Computer Management but not My Computer, it probably needs to be initialized or have a drive letter assigned.

Some bios/cmos have options to enable or disable it. My latest board has an Auto detect or not installed option. Usually those are set to auto detect by default but who knows.
