Will overclocking affect wattage support from the motherboard?

Hello,

I'm just wondering, if I overclock a AMD 970 BE CPU, which requires 125W, in a mobo that supports up to 125W, will there be any issues? I'm not sure how much overclocking affects the mobo, but I do know that it consumes more power, which should come from the PSU. Could someone explain this to me?

you should be fine especially if you dont raise CPU voltage(Vcore)
with a Black Edition CPU like you have
just raise the CPU multiplier until it crashes then backk down one notch
then use Prime95 (google it for download-free-widely used and safe as far as viruses as long as you get if from authors sit)
run P95 for at least two hours and monitor temps
I like to use HWinfo (32 adn 64 bit editions depending your windows version-just google again)
as long as your temps dont go over 50c by too much (more than a degree or two)
then you are fine)
just by doing CPU multiplier and not raising voltage you will be safe
also if you do raise voltage dont go too high
usually most mobos will use a color warning yellow>red
just go a little into the yellow
most AMD 9xx series can go up to 1.50v safely
but stay under 1.45

that is a guide for BE chips
my PHii x 4 925 @ 3.5ghz is about equal to yours stock
so even at stock speeds you have a good CPU
by doing a solid OC with just the multi
you will definiltey have alot of power
unless you want bragging rights (I have the highest OC!)
then no need to raise voltage
I had to with my 925(1.49v) but it is not a BE CPU
so was necessary
but you will be safe with your mobo by just doing multi OC
