I had just downloaded the newest driver 191.07 about a week ago.
[Over the last 2 days I have had to totally reformat my PC due to what I thought was possible Windows conflict causing my PC to reboot occasionally. Yesterday morning it was finally apparent it was the power supply..as I had feared but ruled out until I was certain it wasn't XP]
Today I go to check the latest update from Nvidia and notice the 175.19 driver from 2008 is the current driver being offered for 8 series card (8800GT).
Besides the fact that the Sims 3 wont start...which is why I was checking...everthing else ran alright on 191.07.
(I did all updates to the Sims 3 before trying to launch...it just dumps back to desktop)
Anybody know what's going on?

Oh I'm sure the conspiracy folks wold have a heyday with this...

It is probably just a server error though.. Check back later and see if it works.

Just looked now and they have the 191.07 drivers listed for the G80 series.

nVidia would have to be stupid to do something like that kind of conspiracy, if they made people want to get a new card now, they'd be going to ATi lol...

Maybe ATi hacked their servers and inserted old drivers? :O

I just searched for the 260 and it came up offering the 191.07
Must be something related to the 8800GT and XP.

That is odd. I just looked and it has the same for XP and Vista in the 8000 series.
im currently running 190.38 on a 8800gtx with no trouble.

The Nv site is just having a brain fart, you can get the driver from here if you need them.

Well, I took the 175.19 driver and now the Sims 3 and everything else is loading and running just fine.
If they throw an update out I'll have at it, but in the meantime this will be OK.
Even the avi. viewing in Windows is working correctly again.
I think some of my troubles began with the 200 series card drivers featuring phys-x that came directly after 175.19, as with 185.5 I could shoot videos with fraps99 but couldn't watch them back. GTA San Andreas wouldn't load with any driver after 185.5, until 191.07 came along..
so yes there have been issues for the good part of a year as far as the driver working adequately for everything I'm doing
