HD Editing video card

I need to buy a good video card that will allow me to do HD Video editing. I have a PC, 2.8 Ghz, 8Go RAM and I'm using Sony Video Studio (it does HD editing but my regular Video card is so slow...).

Any suggestions?

  1. How much are you willing to pay for a video card? There are a wide variety of cards that can do this so if you can me a ballpark number ill try and figure out the best card for your range.

  2. Hummmm $350 ?
  3. I'm also looking for a video card for 1080p HD editing. I'm looking to spend $150.

Are there even video cards anymore, or is it all about games? If so, what graphics card is the best for HD video editing?
  4. I do video editing too, and from my experience and from what I've read, the GPU plays a letter role than does the CPU. If you are using an old Pentium 4, you're going to want to upgrade. Everything in the video/3D profession is shifting toward 64 bit computing. Try getting an Intel core 2 duo or i7 processor and coupling it with a moderate GPU if you are on a strict budget. Try the nvidea quadro series.
