What Ever Happened To The Core 2 Quad 7xxx Series?

well what probably happened was the idea for i7 popped up, and whats the point of releasing an obselete processor at the same time you are trying to push a futuristic processor.

Why was I5 released after I7? Why does I3 come out next year? Simply put to fill out a budget line up, and that is what the Q7XXX series was suppose to do.

The i5 is a derivative of the technology used to make the i7.

The i3 fills out the budget line-up as you say, but the i3 CPUs are made with the new 32nm process, which is newer technology and as a result come out later.

Bear in mind that i3, i5, i7 is a brand name, not build or release order.
