Why nVidia 9 series? I could tell you to grab a GTS250 (I mean 9800GT(I MEAN 8800GT)) for 110$, or I could tell you to get the infinitely better ATI HD4870 for 125$.

9800gtx+ 130$
9600gt 99$
9800gt 108$

and if you want to spend a little more grab a gtx260 core 216 for 185$

i personally wouldn't grab ati or your probably having a lot of pain with the faulty drivers

You won't have any problem with ATI drivers if you uninstall your current card before you swap, and with that said, the graphics card that would be best suited to you depends on the rest of your system (ram, cpu speed, psu rating), as well as your budget.

Dont listen to this nvidia fanboy, Ati drivers work perfectly fine. You can get a Ati HD 4850 for $99 and it would completely and utterly destroy the 9600gt.

ATI 4850 or nVidia GTS 250

ATI 4870 or nVidia GTX 260

That's what I'd suggest if you want a substantial increase in performance.

Why do you feel he is a fanboy? He only stated fact that the 4850 beats the 9600 GT. Also, the catalyst 9 drivers have proven to be as stable and sometimes more stable than Nvidia's drivers.
