I am waiting for a motherboard to show up. But I want to test my fans. I would like to use my currently idle 750W PSU as a source of 12V to test various fans.

Is there a way to "turn on" a PSU without hooking it up to a MB?

Yes, jump the green ( Power_On ) pin with any ground pin on the main connector

Make sure the switch is off before you jump the pins :o

Thank you. It's always good to have someone remind you of things like that.

Any notion of what color wire the ground should be?

Just ran a bunch of fans. Now that they're at 12V instead of 17+V, they are much quieter.
