  1. The INTEL Pentium 4 3,06Ghz FSB533Mb/s 512kb-caché (northwood)
    Second-hand, of course.
It's very old and not a good mobo (SiS 645 chipset ). Don't waste your money.
  2. yes but i just ordered a new pc and im giving my old asus to my son and i want to give it some oomph. currently i have a p4 1.8 gz in it. think its worth it? and also do i have to update my bios? ive never did it before. sorry but im kinda newby at this stuff

Update bios of the mobo is always a good idea for supporting the last cpus.
The last bios for your mobo is the 1007c:

    P4S333 (without LAN) BIOS 1007C
Support CPU Frequency multiple to 28x and micro-code update. It can support P4-2.5/2.6GHz.
Fix Win98SE not be installed if IDE Ultra DMA Mode.
Fix CPU Information not showed under WinXP

It seems that SIS chipset doesn't support all the "northwood" cpus, only the INTEL PENTIUM 4 2,6Ghz max.

Anyway, your bios (1007) supports the same cpus, so it wouldn't necesary any update of your bios:

    P4S333 (with LAN) BIOS 1007
Support CPU Frequency multiple to 28x and micro-code update. It can support P4-2.5/2.6GHz.
Fix Win98SE not be installed if IDE Ultra DMA Mode.
Fix CPU Information not showed under WinXP.
  5. Excuse me. You already have the 1007c (lastest bios). Please, forget the last past.
It's not necesary at all for you to update the bios.

thanks Henry youve been very helpful. one last question, do i have to make any jumper changes or change any settings in my bios if i put a 2.5 or 2.6 in?
  7. Look at the page 2-17 of your manual: http://www.unitycorp.co.jp/support/download/manual/478/p4s333_e.pdf

Make sure you have "jumper free" selected and set all the DIP switches to off. Then the mobo will get the cpu speed automaticaly. (It will be strange if you don't already have it at this way)
