ATI 4850 HD 1g DDR3 Problem, please help :)

Hey lads n ladies About 3 weeks ago i brought myself a new computer... i was excitd ofc.. so i bring it home, install my game, start playing. After anything from 30 seconds of playing - 2-3 hours, the screen goes all pixlated then flashes from a black screen to a pixlated screen. The game i tend to play is "Call Of Duty 4" i have also turnt down all of the games texture settings, and im getting 125 fps constanty.

My Rig and Temps.

Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6300 @ 2.80GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.8GHz (Temp - 50-60c not gaming... 70-90c while gaming)
Memory: 4GIG RAM
Hard Drive: 500GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4850 (Temp - 40-50c not gaming.. 45-55c while gaming)
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster
Operating System: Windows XP™ Service Pack 3
Motherboard: Asus P5KPL/EPU
Powersupply is 450watt

Im also pretty worried about how hot my CPU is running at. Is that temp normal? (Temp - 50-60c not gaming... 70-90c while gaming)

Oh, and i often get a message from the CCC saying "VPU recover has reset your graphics accelerator"

That seems pretty toasty for the CPU, and extremely cool for the GPU, check and make sure all of the pushpins on the CPU heatsink are seated, it may be self throttling. What resolution are you running at? What 450 watt PSU do you have? There is lots of variation in quality at that level.

My resolution is - 1024 by 768...
and, all i know about my PSU is that it came with the case i got, and it 450 watt, ill go do some research now on what it is

aw crap, its a raidmax

i think i found the reason for the GPU being so cool, at 1024x768 it is heavily CPU bottlenecked, i can play everything on high with a 4850 at 1280x1024, thats an extra 67% workload on the GPU.

As for your reset issues, im going to blame the PSU, i suggest swapping it out for a good one like this ASAP

I just searched newegg and raidmax's website, this is the only 450 watt psu i can find thats made by them which is incredibly disconcerting

your cpu is getting too hot. i missed a pushpin on my intel board and had the same thing happen. check your cooler to see if its seated. also check if the fan is actually spinning when the pc is on. leave the side cover off and watch your cpu fan. see if it works.

shudnt it shutdown my computer if it was a power problem? after its done the pixlated bit, it all comes back :/ and plays normal againg for X amount for time
