I am looking at a Compaq CQ5205Y at best buy for $350 with the monitor for my young kids ages 9 and 11. They use it for school stuff, and knights online- online gaming, nothing that requires a disk mainly. What am I better off purchasing, the ultra portable netbooks or a desktop for their needs?

If so, what brands would you recommend if I am on an under $400 budget for desktop with monitor, or around $300-$325 for netbook?

A netbook is nice but expect it to brake... keys missing kids saying I dont know....

so a desktop is a more solid option.
Under that price range I would think all brands are about the same.

I would personally put in a bit more dollars on the tower and get a used unbreakable CRT such as a 17"
People virtually give them away...

Fry's.com has an emachines with Intel 2210 dual core cpu, 3 gigs of ram and windows 7 for $279. That's a perfect pc for your kids. For the monitor, newegg has an asus 19 inch for $109.99 with free shipping and you don't pay sales tax except in California.
