Easy-tuner won't start

I'm working with the Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-4D4H motherboard and wanted to do some overclocking using the EasyTuner6 software that came with it. I won't start. Nothing in the EasyTuner folder will start. I've tried ET6SC.exe, GUI.exe, nothing. I've tried from Start, Programs, Gigabyte, EasyTuner, ET6, won't start. What's up?

Also, does it make any difference if you use this software as opposed to going into the BIOS to do overclocking? (Assuming that this software works!)
Thanks!

Have you tried launching the installer from the "Application Software" tab of the generic installation program that 'autoruns' each time you insert the driver disk, per page 60 of your manual?

You are better off doing the OC from the BIOS directly, but EasyTune is OK for 'testing' settings first...

I was thinking that might be the case, better OCing from the BIOS. So working with this Motherboard and a Phenom II 550, would some simple OCing be to set the CPU Clock Ratio (multiplier?) to maybe 17 and keep the CPU frequency (FSB) at 200. 200 x 17 = 3.4Ghz. The Phenom 550 runs at 3.1 so this isn't too much of a push, correct? I have the CPU Voltage at +0.050v which means the voltage is actually 1.4000v? (in blue to the right). Not going to fry anything am I? I have an after-market 120mm fan blowing on the heatsink.

I don't 'do' AMDs, so I'd kind of struggle with parameters... (Doesn't make me less willing to try - just 'dumber'! [:bilbat:2] )

Take a peek here at AMD's recently released (excellent) guide:
http://game.amd.com/us-en/content/pdf/AMD_Dragon_AM3_AM2_Performance_Tuning_Guide.pdf
and give a try to this:
http://download.amd.com/Desktop/AOD_31_Setup_English.exe
assuming it will run on your hardware (we've had some problems...) [:bilbat:3]

If you still find yourself 'at a loss', I'll try my hand at it...
