Have you run the analysis? Lots of red means opening a large file requires the HDD to jump all over reading hither and yon to get the complete file. With older slower drives the increased read times were "noticable".

More importantly, running the disc defrag will free up sectors and increase the usable space on the drive. That is a GOOD thing.

Win 7 supposedly takes care of the defrag in the background for you but XP will benefit. It's just a waste of time to do it too often. XP will let you know based on the "analysis" on the need.
