I havent built a pc or do I even know about new techs since the last time I built my machine. Which I am still using. Its a P4 3.06 intel that I've been using since the day it hit the streets. I want to say that makes it 10yrs old (it sure feels like it) but im probably a little bit off. So I think I got my monies worth. Help me get another decade... 5+ yrs with a new machine?

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: ASAP

BUDGET RANGE: $1000-1200ish Before Rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: gaming, surfing the internet

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com, ncix.com -- Never shopped with ncix, but if they are trusted and cheaper, then ok. I have had great success with newegg. Also I just want to order everything from 1 site. =]

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: US

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel cpu and full tower case The cabinet the tower has to fit in is 23"x11"x15" HxWxD

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe I have never configured a pc with either of these. If im showed a tutorial im sure I can figure it out.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: I have 20" screen I want to use.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I already have windows xp pro. I "think" I want to upgrade windows. So please tell me what OS you think I should be using too.

So if anybody wants to design me a PC it would make my day! =]

The 15" deep has to be a typo. There are no tower cases that small. Cases are 18-22 inches deep.

Read the second post of this thread. It will get you started. It has some current example builds.

It is 15" my current case does hang off the edge though its probably 18"

You might need a smaller mid-tower like the Rosewill Wind Ryder.

All these cases need air-flow. The big ones usually depend on side vents and a 10 inch wide case in an 11 inch wide cabinet wont get much.

going over that build. Seems real nice. I dont know much about that vid card. I did have a ATI that I was never really happy with but that was so long ago. heh

GTS 250 is a tweaked 9800 which is a tweaked 8800. Its an adequite, bottom of the line DX10 gaming card by todays standards. If you want something for the future you want an ATI 5870 or 5850 DX11 card. At the very least get a GTX260 (about twice as fast as the 250).

With that system you are paying a couple hundred dollars for someone to build and overclock the computer for you. Its not offensively overpriced, but that graphics card needs replaced.

Here is something fast for a gamer (thats you) around 1200.00USD.
i7-920--------------------------------275.00USD
MSI ATX X58 Pro-E LGA1366-----180.00USD
Thermaltake Spin-Q cooler-------70.00USD
6G Corsair DDR3SDRAM @1600-150.00USD
1XATI 5850--------------------------260.00USD
Thermaltake 850W TR2-RX-------140.00USD
500G Samsung F3------------------50.00USD
Antec 900 ATX Chassis------------100.00USD
Pioneer 22x internal optical------50.00USD

Total----------------------------------1275.00USD
This is a great value based on performance with plenty of room for growth and upgrades later. It is imperative that you consider the i7-920, the 5850, 500G F3 and 6G @1600 for that they play a significant roll in this built. This is SLi or Crossfire ready rig and the recommended PSU will support that. There can be many different ways building this rig from ground up, this is mine. Let me know what you think. I am also interested of what others will put together for you. Hope this helped a bit...

Whoops. That might of slipt. I wanted the 920 and the LGA1366. Sorry guys, too much blood/Benadryl content. I corrected the form. Thanks for the slap at the back of the head. Kinda needed that...
