This is my first encounter with memory, I usually just buy whats there on the basic specs. Can someone plzzzz help me with this board and the best and fastest memory to use. Im really getting confused, I thought I understood it but I guess I dont. I plan to over clock them if poss or ide just like a bad ass set stock.

The board is an msi x58m lga 1366 say it takes DDR3 800/1066/1333* (OC). I cant find a memory support page like asus and them so I dont believe compatability will be a problem. That mean it will take 1333 if I over clock 1066 or it take 1333 and I configure the board differently? BTW I dont plan on over clocking it myself so my lack of knowledge wont come into play. Anyways like I said, thought I had it but then I started thinking of it in a diferent way.

My only site choices are newegg.com and tigerdirect.com. I'de appriciate your time and knowledge cause after 3-4 weeks of researching, im almost at the stage of saying p&%s on it.

Plz and thankyou

Im sorry ive changed the board do to the research ive found on this site.

Thanks for your reply and I feel like an infant changing the board like that on short notice but I feel so much more secure and safe using boards reviewed buy this site and its people. Plus multiple(hundreds lol) bad reviews on MSI cheap parts and ASUS ram problems such as doa boards and only 4-6 dimms working. Anyways hope you didnt too much time if any searching But if you did I greatly app it.

Ive changed my board type to an asrock extreme, reviewed on this site(site is so freaking cool, collected, well explained, you've got a member for life here Tom and Tom's helpers). Last change cause this site gave me the knowledge to make my final pick with confidence. Im looking for ddr3 (3x2gig) with a low cas I know this. maybe the 7-7-7-20 range. Frequency and compatabilty with o.c. freq above standard on board is not what im getting.(explained better in bottom paragraph) It will be running a i7 930 btw if that will help.

Budget $0-200

Can someone help me pick the best and fastest ram plz. Ive been up all night plus 3-4 weeks of hell trying to understand it and I hate asking for such an extensive favor from someone. I really have tried to do the work for myself research and all but im failing miserably to understand something in such a short time. Such as it says it takes 1066 but it also says 1333o.c.. That mean I overcock a 1066 to 1330 or do I get 1333 and adjust the the motherboard? It may be so simple that no one talks about it. Ive tried to ask in other places but no one will respond to me so I figured I was just dumb and everyone just skipped over my ignorance lol.

Plz and Thankyou

With that kind of budget, you could get something like this. You may need to adjust the settings in the BIOS. It's low voltage and has good timings.

There's also a good deal on these Mushkins, though, they are a little above you budget.

Yeah ive seen those and I originally picked the mushkins cause of all the great reviews but I dont see them anywhere on the compat list. No Muskins at all on there actually. Im not 100 percent sure they will work, I really really want them but I dont know. Does it really matter? I have read in a few cases where certain boards wont recognize certain sticks. Asus mainly, but if a higher quality board has problems with compatabilty issues I would assume lower quality boards would as well. I would be more then happy to up my budget for the quality mushins.

The QVL is a small list of memory that they tested. It's not the complete list of what is compatible. The mushkins should work just fine.
