Blank window opening in xp

Hello,
For the last several days I have been getting an unidentified blank window opening in the middle of my screen when I start windows xp sp3. There is also a blenk entry in the task bar. It doesn't seem to be affecting the system but is a nuisance. Any ideas on getting rid of theis?

Start>Run>msconfig
Go the startup tab and look for applications you do not need at startup, then uncheck the boxes. Save. Dialog box will show you need to restart for the settings to take effect. Restart. If you unchecked the box causing the blank window to open - it will no longer appear.
