Okay so i have a Phenom ii 940, an Asus board with an Nvidia 8200 chipset, and 9600gt silent cell which i love, this set up runs what i need just fine, if i keep my brain out of the bios anyway! Problem is i want to play with AMD overdrive. So im thinking of switching to a very similar board just with a 7-series chipset, and a nice ATI card, something like the 9600 i have. I guess my question is, if i just go with the board do i really need to have an ATI card to use Overdrive? Im happy with the HUD utility that came with my Gigabyte card, it works and thats all that matters.
