I'm trying to use the q-flash utility to update the bios on my x58a-ud3r board, but it is not being detected. I verified that it is formatted FAT 32. Any advice?
You've got the first:
1 - format to FAT-32
2 - file(s) into root of drive
3 - on the "Integrated Peripherals" page of the BIOS, "USB Storage Function" to "Enabled"...

Did that.. still no joy. But, I've decided not to upgrade for now anyway as I have the next to latest installed and things seem to be working well...
If everything seems ok I wouldn't worry about it. Only other suggestion I have is to try other USB ports and plug it in before rebooting (to go into BIOS then enter qflash).
To follow up - turns out you have to make the stick bootable as well. Google bootable USB and you'll find instructions.
No you don't - I've been trying to use QFlash to update my BIOS on the same motherboard and it sees the USB. Couldn't do the flash though as the new BIOS was 2MB and BIOS QFlash only supports 1MB BIOS files.
