How much RAM do you have ?
How are you connected to the internet - dial up -dsl - cable ?
what is your computer model ?
have you run scans for malware/virus ?
Whats the specs on your hard drive ? - Older one ?

Upgrade your SP2 to SP3 and apply subsequent hot fixes. XP runs fine.
