Hello - I just built a new system with an AMD Phenom 2 X3, Gigabyte Mobo, and OCZ 1066 memory. The system powers on, yet I get no post. CPU fan is running, double/triple checked the memory, graphics card (9400 GT), etc.
Does it sound like the mobo is DOA? I'm not sure really what to diagnose here since the cpu fan indeed comes on.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I pulled the mobo back off and there were only six standoffs - each being used.
Also, went through the troubleshooting guide sticky on here. As far as I know, the memory is compatible with the mobo and processor. Just using one stick doesn't work either, so I assume its not the memory. Perhaps I need to get DDR2-800?
It would help to have the specs of your system. Your sig. says ASUS, but you talk about a Gigabyte mobo. Full specs could help determine compatibility of your components.
I just had a similar problem and after troubleshooting, I'm in the process of RMAing my board back to ASUS. A motherboard speaker would let you hear the beep codes and get a better idea of where the problem might lie.
I've assembled everything as normal - connected all case connections, cpu fan, HDD, power connectioins, etc. Turn on the power, no post. Tried each memory stick alone, no post. Tried it with out the video card (used on board video and removed video card), no post. Checked mobo for shorts, no post. Note that all no posts, the fans all turn on - cpu, gpu, and case.
So, I went to the local CompUSA, and purchased the ASUS M3N72-D (Box says it supports AM3). Same Issue - no post.
One interesting observation I had was that I was unable to power off the system without flipping the switch on the PSU.
I believe all my components to be compatible with each other. That having been said, I don't believe the video card to be bad, since with the original mobo, same result with mobo video and no video card in. That brings it all down to the memory or the CPU. Either the memory is not compatible, or the CPU is DOA.
Any help or guidance before I go to CompUSA and spend more money would be great! Thanks again,

Don't remember if you said you tested it out of the box, or you just pulled it out to check. Try getting it to POST out of the box (on a proper surface, such as the non-static bag it came in, or on wood, or...).
Are you absolutely sure the 4-pin CPU power connector is plugged into the motherboard? It's located near the CPU socket on the motherboard. That's the most common mistake and why it's #2 on the checklist.
The RAM you picked also requires very high voltage to work. Did you check the motherboard owners manual to make sure you were using the correct RAM slot when you tried each stick of RAM by itself?
So I found out the issue - for some reason, the reset button had a short in it. All is working just fine now. I had to remove one of the memory sticks to install the OS, but reinstalled afterwards and all is well. Thank you again for your help in troubleshooting!
