yeah you are bottlenecking your computer somewhere, what is your RAM/FSB speed. your CPU might also be bottlenecking. CPU is much more important for gaming than people give it credit. CS 1.6 is so easy to run, i can run it high detail on my four year old comp with integrated graphics 1GB of PC-3200 2.2GHz single core

what about your cpu & graphic card temp? sometimes overheating may cause the game to hang or system emergency shut down. if thats not the case you can try updating your graphic driver but i doubt that will solve your problem. btw if you really want to play games it is better to get more powerful card like ATi HD4650/HD4670. they are pretty cheap right now

I have a passively cooled one that still works fine after three years, so the manufacturing seems fine.

Know this is an old thread, yet may help many others in the future!
I had the same problem.

Installed new Video Card. (EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1G DDR3)
VERY slow boot up, very sluggish general operation, Video was slow as could be, Computer would eventually hang after 20 minutes or so (Sometimes sooner).

It turned out to be a wrong setting in the Bios.

Had to set the BIOS to use the PCI-e slot for video first.
Once I did that, it runs great!
Fast & smooth!

Hope this helps. :)
