Can anyone supply me with whatever is the most powerful video card that would be compatible with Windows 98 and uses an AGP 8x slot.

lot of cards for agp 8x , best is radeon hd 3850 , then 4650/4670 , but drivers would be the problem for you ... upgrade to a newer windows . also consider your cpu ... if its a single core , then radeon 3650 would be ok because u wont be able to drive more powerful cards anyway .

forgot to add this , even the 3850 is not "super high end" these days . and i really doubt any newer cards than 4600 series would be launched .

have a read and then make up your mind. you would prob see most benefit having a look on ebay for an old x1950pro for a few quid and save for a better system later down the line.
